These appliances are worn when sleeping. The snoring appliances are made to treat patients who snore and are not an attempt to treat apnea. Sleep apnea can be a severe problem contributing to other medical problems which shorten lives. These problems may include arterial damage, strokes, irregular heartbeats, obesity, and other sleep deprivation issues. Sleep apnea shortens lives and treatment is very important. Symptoms include morning headaches, tiredness, lack of energy, daytime sleepiness, and an inability to feel alert after normal sleeping hours. Sleep apnea appliances are indicated for mild to moderate sleep apnea and in cases of more severe apnea where a CPAP machine cannot be worn.
